CLCA 2005 Leadership Conference

CLCA HQ has received several questions regarding our upcoming Leadership Conference, which will be held December 1, 2005.

There will be a brief (5 minute?) meeting of the membership to elect officers and the 2006 Board of Directors. Members at large are encouraged to vote by proxy ballot (request one from CLCA HQ today!).

This session is designed to train chapter officers to better understand their role as a board members. The high-powered educational seminars offered last year have been moved to the Executive Forum at the 2006 Landscape Industry Show.

Even though there are some who will never give up on a good game of golf (Jay Tripathi and Peter Estournes admire their glow-in-the-dark balls during the LandPAC Glow Golf Tournament)... ...winter's icy winds and the seemingly snow-covered shores of Newport drove many attendees of CLCA's 2004 Leadership Summit to the warmth of indoors (CLCA Events Manager Tara Stout warms up with a new scarf purchased at the nearby Fashion Island mall). Fortunately, there was plenty to do inside. Association members bid adieu to the 2004 Board of Directors, and elected and installed officers for 2004. They networked (Nate Silan and Mickey Strauss)...
...shared experiences (Laurie McLaughlin, CLCA 2005 President Barbara Alvarez, Mike Baron)... ... and welcomed the multitude of "first-time" attendees (Alvarez and Scott Persson). In short, they had a great time. There was laughter (Jon Alsdorf, CLT)...
... and entertainment (the Board of Directors presents the hysterical adventures of a
vanquished unlicensed operator).
In addition to the mirth and merriment, the summit had a serious side, with powerful programs by MIT Professor and Business Guru Michael Treacy (Gary Matsubara and Treacy compare cel phones). Chip Eichelberger, who addressed "Your Most Important Asset: Your People"
Henry Gillet, who detailed the "Road Map to Surviving and Thriving In Politics." In the end, everybody left with a smile on their face (CLCA 2004 President Jon Singley and friend) and vows not to miss the 2005 Leadership Summit.
